NASHVILLE, Tenn. – In a significant operation early Wednesday morning, authorities from multiple agencies executed a federal search warrant at a property on Hobson Pike in Antioch, uncovering a suspected human trafficking operation. The coordinated effort involved the Metro Nashville Police Department (MNPD), Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) Nashville, the FBI, and the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation (TBI).
The investigation, which focused on suspected brothel activity, targeted a five-acre property where law enforcement discovered evidence supporting allegations of organized prostitution. Inside the residence, investigators found an upstairs section that had been modified into several small rooms, reportedly used for illicit activities.
Authorities arrested five individuals at the scene, all of whom attempted to flee during the operation. Two suspects crossed Hobson Pike, forcing officers to temporarily close the roadway to ensure public safety and apprehend the individuals. The suspects taken into custody include:

- Gianfranco Augusto Barazarte-Morales, 31: Barazarte-Morales is connected to a non-critical shooting on September 17 at a suspected brothel on Mt. View Road. He is charged with two counts of aggravated assault, felony reckless endangerment with a deadly weapon, and firearm use in the commission of a dangerous felony related to that incident. Additional charges include promoting prostitution, felony marijuana possession, and evading arrest.

- Felix Rafael Ortega, 27: Ortega faces charges for promoting prostitution, evading arrest, felony marijuana possession, and felony possession of “Tusi,” a dangerous mix of cocaine, ecstasy, fentanyl, and other substances.

- Elmer Humberto Aparicio-Castillo, 27: Aparicio-Castillo is charged with promoting prostitution, evading arrest, felony marijuana possession, and felony firearm possession. Investigators recovered a semi-automatic pistol from the area where he was apprehended, and he admitted ownership of the weapon.

- Idenis Alexander Sanchez-Paredes, 22: Sanchez-Paredes is charged with promoting prostitution, felony marijuana possession, evading arrest, and criminal impersonation.
- Wilfredo Jose Mata-Fornerino, 37: Mata-Fornerino faces charges for promoting prostitution, felony marijuana possession, and evading arrest.
This operation is part of a larger, ongoing federal investigation into human trafficking and organized crime. According to MNPD spokesperson Don Aaron, this case is linked to broader criminal activities beyond the single property on Hobson Pike.
Barazarte-Morales’ involvement in the September 17 shooting underscores the serious nature of this investigation. In that incident, two individuals were injured at another suspected brothel located at 6166 Mt. View Road. MNPD detectives from the Non-Lethal Shooting Unit connected Barazarte-Morales to the event, leading to additional charges against him.
Aaron also referenced a separate, yet related case from September in which three men were found shot and killed at a residence on Bart Drive in Antioch. While there are only three publicly known suspected brothel cases at this time, investigators believe these incidents are part of a larger pattern tied to organized criminal networks.
HSI Nashville spearheaded Wednesday’s operation, working closely with MNPD and other federal partners to build the case over an extended period. MNPD emphasized that their department, alongside federal agencies, has been diligently pursuing leads and collecting evidence for more than a year.
Despite the alarming nature of these revelations, MNPD assured the public that there is no immediate danger to the community. “This is a large-scale investigation beyond just this one particular property,” Aaron said, indicating that further developments are expected as authorities continue their work.
The investigation is ongoing at the federal level, and officials are urging patience as they uncover additional details. MNPD has promised to release more information in the coming days and weeks, underscoring their commitment to dismantling the criminal networks responsible for these operations.
